I first learned about Côtes-du-Rhône through a great wine podcast, Wine for Normal People. I began listening to the podcasts last year when I began training for the Brookings Marathon Relay. I found them a great way to keep my mind occupied while getting my legs and lungs ready for my 3 mile part of the relay.
I first found a Côtes-du-Rhône at Little Wine Cellar in Sioux Falls. I love a good blend and this did not disappoint. When the girls and I were in Sioux Falls over New Year’s, I definitely wanted to stop at JJ’s Wine, Spirits & Cigars to get some sparkling wine and some beer for Rocky. I saw the Côtes-du-Rhône on sale and decided to try it out.
This is a nice, inexpensive wine. It was under $15 at JJ’s Wine, Spirits & Cigars. It’s apple-tart with a long finish. This would be fantastic on the deck this summer.
I haven’t been able to find much about M. Chapoutier, but it looks like this is a fairly easy wine to find as it is available at many larger wine retailers. I’m just happy I have a wine retailer some what local to me so I can pick it up again. I will definitely be looking for it the next time I go to the Brookings Liquor Store.
